"Cooking like the pros" as a Zoom triology

A cooking class during lockdown? Studierendenwerk chefs are making it possible: For the first time, the annual kitchen event "Cooking like the pros" is taking place digitally as a livestream!

100 years of Studierendenwerk Aachen and 100 years of Mensa Academica - how the dining hall chefs would have loved to invite you to a retro edition of their cooking class for students "Cooking like the pros," but in the actual anniversary year 2020, the dining hall doors remained firmly closed for the students due to Corona.

Now, for the first time, the event, in which participants will go on a culinary journey back to the 1920s, is being presented in digital form and will be broadcast live from the dining hall kitchen via Zoom. The event will be hosted by our Head Chef Lars Laufenberg, who has selected an extraordinary festive menu from the haute cuisine of the time to celebrate belatedly the 100th anniversary of Mensa Academica. "In the twenties, game was highly popular - that may not be today, but those who would like to eat or cook once like 100 years ago can look forward to something very special!"

The cooking event will take place as a series this time. The menu components will thus be cooked on three different days, so that students can tune into the respective livestream depending on their preferences. Each broadcast will last between 20 and 45 minutes. Since the preparation of the menu, especially the main course, is very time-consuming in real time and the broadcast should not take to long, some things will already be prepared. What about homecooking during the livestream? "Unfortunately, cooking along will not always be possible because of the level of difficulty - but that should not stop anyone from trying anyway," says Lars Laufenberg.

During the live broadcast, participants can ask their questions via chat; Lars Laufenberg will be happy to answer them while cooking.
