10th German-French photo competition

This year, the 10th German-French photo competition is being held on the theme of “Peace / Paix”. In a world full of conflicts and exactly 80 years after the end of the Second World War, peace in Europe is more important than ever. However, peace is not only crucial between states, but also between cultural and religious communities, between generations and in the family, but also in everyday life, in the neighborhood and in relationships. And what does peace actually look like in communication, on social media or in the digital space? Last but not least, peace plays an important role in education, training and research, on the path to social justice and in the culture of remembrance.
The competition is aimed at students of all disciplines in Germany and France. Its aim is to use a largely digital format to motivate students from both countries to discover their artistic and creative side and to present their interpretation of the competition theme by taking part in an international initiative. At the same time, the competition underlines the importance of German-French cooperation. The project is coordinated by the DSW and the partner institution Cnous from France. It is implemented by the STWs and Crous, with financial and organizational support from the German-French Youth Office.
Procedure of the competition:
- Students register via the project website (registration deadline for students is 12 May 2025).
- A German-French jury will select the best entries at the end of May, award three prizes and nominate further photos for the exhibition.
- The award ceremony is expected to take place in June 2025 in Lyon.
Presentation of the results
The results of the project will be recorded in the form of an exhibition that can be presented by the STWs and Crous in their premises from fall 2025. The exhibition will be produced by the DSW and Cnous and made available to the institutions.
