Family playroom in Aachen

Aachen's city center is a lively place that is frequented by both local families and visitors. However, there are currently only a few designated play areas for children and there is a lack of consumer-free recreational spaces. To counteract this lack, the plan is to set up a temporary play and family space in the former "Lust for Life" department store. In cooperation with the  LustAufLife initiative, Studierendenwerk is taking over the sponsorship. The project is being financed by the city of Aachen. It is scheduled to start on 1 June.

The project aims to create a centrally located place that can be used regardless of the weather and offers both children and parents an attractive place to spend time, free from consumption and shopping offers. Children are given the opportunity to learn through play, let off steam creatively and improve their social skills, while adults find a place to relax and spend time together.

The area has many different play elements to suit children of all ages. Bobby cars and exercise games will be available during opening hours, and low-threshold activities such as painting and handicrafts will also be on the program.

The plans envisage temporary use up to and including September. Then "Lust for Life" will permanently become the "House of Curiosity"
