Living and learning together

Living in a Studierendenwerk residence hall is ideal in many ways: The halls are located in the city center and the rent is low. It is easy to find free-time activities and there are learning communities you can join.

There are different types of rooms: From classic single rooms and apartments to shared apartments and family apartments for students with children: We provide about 5,000 places in 24 residence halls in Aachen and Jülich. We also provide accessible apartments for students with disabilities.

Most rooms are partly furnished and have high-speed internet access. All residence halls are equipped with washing machines and tumble dryers that can be used for a fee. Unlike the rents on the private housing market our rents are generally all-inclusive, so there are no additional payments. Students of RWTH Aachen, FH Aachen (also dep. Jülich), KatHO and Musikhoschule Köln, dep. Aachen, can live in our residence halls.

Getting in touch with other students is very easy if you live in a residence hall. We provide common rooms where the residents can meet in their free time, learn together, celebrate or do sport together. The hall councils organize social events like foosball tournaments, club nights or special events for new residents.

Low rent, great community life and and many free-time activities – these aspects and many more make our residence halls very popular. Therefore, we recommend you to apply for a place early. Best as soon as you know that you might take up your studies in Aachen or Jülich. Being enrolled at university is not necessary when you apply! Only when you sign the rental agreement we will ask you to submit your enrollment certificate. It will be easier to get a room or apartment if you are flexible about the move-in date and the room type.
