Changed BAföG telephone hours

For capacity reasons, the BAföG Office is suspending its telephone hours, but is offering additional appointments for personal advice on questions relating to applications.

Due to vacancies and a high sickness rate, the staff situation at the BAföG Office remains tense. This has been particularly evident in recent months in terms of availability: while all of the available employees were involved in processing BAföG applications, telephone advice was largely unavailable elsewhere.

Fortunately, the study finance department is starting the spring with several new hires, but the necessary training phase will tie up further capacity. The BAföG Office therefore asks students for their understanding that telephone advice will be suspended until further notice in order to prevent staff shortages when processing applications.

The Head of Department is aware that the availability of the employees will be even more limited than it already is for the time being. In order to meet the needs of those seeking advice, appointments can still be booked for a personal consultation - provided they are not requests for information. In addition to Wednesdays, Thursdays are now also available. Update 29 February: From now on, personal appointments can also be made on Tuesdays from 9 am to 1 pm.
