Bridging assistance for students
BMBF gives the starting signal for the second round

As the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and Deutsches Studentenwerk (DSW) announced today, students in need can again receive the Corona bridging assistance. The application for November is available now.

With the reactivation of the bridging assistance for the winter semester 2020/2021, from November 2020 until the end of March 2021, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) offers, once again, help to those students who are demonstrably in an acute, pandemic-related (economic or financial) emergency and require immediate support. You can apply for bridging assistance if you are a German or international student enrolled at a public-funded and government-recognised higher education institution in Germany. Depending on proven need, you could receive between €100 and €500 as a non-repayable allowance.

Applications can be submitted from today, 20 November 2020 and must be submitted online via the online portal on  www.ueberbrueckungshilfe-studierende.de

The local student and student union will again be responsible for processing the application. In the first phase from June to September 2020, a total of around € 1.055,700 was paid out in Aachen. For the second phase, the BMBF and DSW have slightly adjusted the application and examination conditions in view of the duration of the pandemic situation. A detailed FAQ list is available on the DSW homepage and on www.studierendenwerk-aachen.de

Fundamental questions on bridging assistance can be answered by the BMBF hotline 0800 26 23 003. Service hours: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon. Questions regarding applications already submitted can be submitted to ueberbrueckungshilfe-studierende@stw.rwth-aachen.de
