Changes to reusable dishes

New regulations for the lending process from 1 June 2025

From June, some changes will come into force for the Relevo dishes rental process. In future, guests will pay a service fee per reusable container.

The reason for this adjustment is the unfortunately persistent problem of containers being permanently stolen. In recent years, Studierendenwerk has had to incur considerable costs for the replacement.

In order to ensure proper return and prevent tampering, Studierendenwerk is introducing a two-factor return system. The additional check after the first scan is intended to remedy the situation. Important: When students scan the bin for the first time, it is not yet considered returned.

This measure requires more staff. From June, Studierendenwerk will therefore charge 18 cents per borrowed food container and 9 cents per cup. The aim is to promote sustainability and distribute the costs of the reusable system fairly.

The new regulation is intended to minimize environmental impact and costs. Studierendenwerk would once again like to appeal to students to support the environmentally friendly reusable system in the dining halls more. The theft of reusable containers contradicts the principle of sustainability, as additional resources are required for replacement purchases.
