Corona: protective measures in the dining halls

In October the Studierendenwerk reopened the seating areas in two of its dining halls. This decision was based on the onset of the cold season. While eating outdoors was still possible until recently, a different solution had to be found for the winter. However, this solution can only be carried out in compliance with special protective measures. Our concept therefore includes:

  • significant reduction in seating capacity (from 1,400 to 244 in the Mensa Academica, from 800 to 125 in the Mensa Vita)
  • one-way guidance systems
  • strict distance regulations at the tables
  • controlled access to the furniture and tables by place cards
  • obligation to disinfect hands at the entrance and to wear masks inside the whole building
  • minimum distance of two meters on all paths
  • separate serving of the cutlery
  • 20 minutes maximum stay in the seating area
  • high ceilings with ventilation possibilities in the dining area
  • closely timed disinfection measures by our staff at the tables, counters, tray dispensers, door handles, and stair rails
  • staff teams in a rotating system
  • filling out the registration lists

However, a prerequisite for taking these measures is that our guests adhere to all the rules in the dining hall. We therefore make sure to employ sufficient supporting staff to ensure that the required regulations are adhered to as far as possible.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our guests for the very responsible handling of the new canteen situation so far!
