Berlin, 14 September 2020 - What "role models" do students have today? This is what Deutsches Studentenwerk wants to find out from design students all over Germany with its 35th poster competition. Are the role models great scientists like Marie Curie and Stephan Hawking, people from their own circle of friends and family, or celebrities like Lionel Messi or Greta Thunberg?

Studying is a time of trial and error: trying new things, exploring new paths, testing your own personality. But the large amount of possibilities can also be overwhelming and make the search for orientation necessary. Deutsches Studentenwerk asks whether students of today still have role models. If so, which ones? If not, why? Who do students want to be like? Or how do they definitely not want to become?

The competition will be announced for the winter term 2020/2021 at all state and state-recognized design universities nationwide. The competition is open to students of graphic design, communication design and visual communication.

A jury of five distribute prize money of the total amount of € 10,000. A selection of 29 posters will tour Germany for two years and will be exhibited in various Studentenwerken and Studierendenwerken. The competition is sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF); the Museum of Communication Berlin is the cooperation partner.

The poster designs will be submitted to Deutsches Studentenwerk via a digital competition portal. The jury will make a preliminary selection, and the best posters from this "Short List" are expected to be chosen by the end of March 2021.

The award ceremony will take place on 28 June 2021 in the Museum of Communication Berlin.
