Jülich student hall of residence comes back for the winter semester
- After extensive core renovation, Studierendenwerk Aachen reopens its Jülich hall of residence in Jan-von-Werth-Straße
- Students can now apply for a place to live
Aachen/Jülich, 27 August 2024 - Students at the University of Applied Sciences who still need a place to live in Jülich for the winter semester may find what they are looking for at Studierendenwerk Aachen: After a comprehensive core renovation, the Jülich student residence in Jan-von-Werth-Straße will shine in new splendor and can be occupied on 1 September 2024.
The renovation of the building, which was acquired in 1979, began back in 2021, but had been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic and unforeseen additional work such as extensive pollutant remediation and the fulfillment of new fire safety requirements. Studierendenwerk is all the more pleased about the successful completion and the modernized rooms, which now offer students the best living conditions.
Single rooms are predominantly offered in Jan-von-Werth-Straße. The interior work has been completely finished, only the outdoor facilities are still being prepared by Lebenshilfe employees. The total construction costs for the refurbishment amount to around 8.6 million euros.

Interested students can now apply for one of the 105 places via the Studierendenwerk website. The partially furnished twelve square meter single rooms with kitchen, shower and toilet for communal use are available for 253 euros warm rent; those who prefer to live in a shared flat can apply for two- and three-person shared flats. There is also space for small student families in the hall of residence.
The newly renovated complex offers students plenty of comfort: private parking spaces, a barbecue area, an inviting common room and washing machines and dryers. The high-performance internet connection, which is included in the rent and enables speeds of several hundred Mbps in both directions, is perfect for studying. The quiet location ensures a pleasant living atmosphere, while the good transport links make everyday life easier. The nearest supermarket and the Jülich campus are just a few minutes' walk away.
