Kawo 3: The first students moved in
After signing their rental agreements, the first tenants of KaWo 3 were shown to their rooms and received their keys. Studierendenwerk welcomed the residents to the new residence hall complex on Kastanienweg. The first of four houses has been completed!
The team of the housing office had their hands full on the two days the students moved in. All rental agreements had to be signed and every single new resident was brought to his/her apartment. Also in advance there was a lot to be organized: For example, there had to be clear signboards showing the direction to the meeting point in the janitor’s office. The normal entrance via Kastanienweg was still blocked due to the construction works. A temporary entrance was arranged via Seffenter Weg.
The three remaining houses of KaWo 3 as well as the outdoor area are still under construction. The parking lot and the footpaths cannot be used yet. The plan is to complete the next three houses one after another and to have the tenants move in successively. Up to now, everything is going according to plan – the next tenants will be able to move into the next house in a few weeks.
Even though the overall picture of KaWo 3 does not look like a finished residential complex yet the new residents were delighted with their apartments. Also the great view of Campus Melaten makes up for one or two provisional arrangements in KaWo 3. “I think our tenants will feel comfortable here. The apartments are great. And if there should be any problems we have a great team at the residence hall that will help immediately”, promises Birgit Anhalt, head of the housing department.
