Wild parties and sleeping in?
21st social survey wants to do away with clichés
- Street survey for short film: Prejudices against students are widespread
- Questionnaires instead of stereotypes: Facts of DSW show a different picture
- 21st Social Survey about economic and social situation of students will be conducted
until the end of July 2016 - More than 400 000 students were called for participation
Berlin, 7. July 2016. As a street survey showed, there are common clichés about students: Sleeping in, partying, drinking, all freeloaders. However, the social survey conducted by DSW shows a different picture. “Only facts help against prejudices and stereotypes. The more students take part in the survey the better we can show the public and politicians what it really means to study nowadays”, says DSW President Prof. Dr. Dieter Timmermann. “Studying is a full-time job. In average, 35 hours per week are spent for university, seven hours must be added for a job. There is not much time for sleeping in and partying!”
The first results of the 21st Social Survey can be expected in early summer of 2017.
