On the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, Studierendenwerk Aachen clearly stands behind a city and an organization where people of all backgrounds and with diverse lifestyles are welcome and can actively participate in community life. With their experiences and perspectives, they enrich not only our work but also the fabric of our city.

For this reason, we unequivocally distance ourselves from political movements that oppose diversity, tolerance, and freedom for those with differing views. We are not prepared to cooperate with parties at either the local or state level that disregard or oppose the principles of the free democratic basic order. Such parties undermine the very conditions that make a vibrant society and political cooperation possible in the first place. Cooperation requires common rules—those who reject these rules prevent any constructive understanding.
