To make an individual appointment, students can book an appointment via the online portal.
Consultation appointments can currently be booked for the following time slots:

Wednesday: 10 am-noon and 1 pm-3 pm

Important: Appointment requests must be made exclusively via the portal. Appointments can be viewed and booked only eight weeks in advance.

We also ask that appointments not be used exclusively for handing over documents or inquiring about the status of a case, in order to provide guidance to as many students as possible. Thank you!

A hotline is currently available for general information. Students can also leave their contact details if they have questions about the application or need support. Usually, the staff will then call back within one to two working days to help quickly and efficiently.

For data protection reasons the BAföG Office cannot give detailed information about your application via email. The electronic transmission of personal data that the BAföG office works with in order to process applications is prohibited.

Note on application processing

BAföG applications are processed in the order in which they are received. It does not matter whether the documents are sent via post, mail or fax. If the case workers have to request missing documents, further processing is based on the date of receipt of the subsequently submitted documents, and no longer on the date of receipt of the application. Approval notifications are generated and sent out automatically in the middle and at the end of the month on the basis of the entries. The last date for submissions is approximately one week in advance.

We recommend using BAföG-Digital to hand in full applications.
