Our competition has ended – and here are the results:

The online voting has started!

Are you ready to cast your vote and be part of the decision? The online voting for our postcard competition has started today! The social counseling team has carefully selected the ten best sayings and now it's up to you to decide the ultimate winner.

Over the next two weeks, you will have the opportunity to vote for your favorites and at the same time take the chance to win one of three coveted Mensa vouchers! Every vote counts and can influence the course of the competition. Let's celebrate the most creative minds together and choose the winner in style!

We're looking for the best motivation sayings!

Do you like to play with words? Then watch out: The Social Counseling of Studierendenwerk needs your creative minds for a new series of postcards! Take part and show us your best motivation saying - because we want to see your words on our postcards!

How do you take part in the postcard competition?
You have until 20 May 2024 to submit your slogan via our online portal. Don't worry, graphics are not required here - only your brilliant sayings count!

The social counseling team will select the top 10 from all submissions, which will then be ready for a public online vote. See if your slogan makes it to the top and is presented in the foyer of Mensa Academica, on our website and in the dining halls.

Everyone can take part in the online voting and vote for their favorites. The authors of the three sayings with the most votes will win great prizes: 1st place: €150, 2nd place: €100, 3rd place: €50

In addition, the three winning slogans will be graphically designed by us and distributed as postcards in the Aachen and Jülich university area. A great opportunity to share your ideas!

To the online portal

The competition is organized by the Social Counselling Service of Studierendenwerk and supported by the health insurance company AOK Rheinland/Hamburg.

Competition conditions

1. Organizer / Subject

Studierendenwerk Aachen AöR is organizing a postcard competition for students in which participants can send in sayings. The following conditions apply to this competition.

2. Conditions for participation

  1. All persons studying at one of the following Aachen universities are eligible to participate: RWTH Aachen, FH Aachen, Catholic University, University of Music and Dance
  2. Each person may only take part in the competition once.
  3. Participation is only possible via the online form on the Studierendenwerk Aachen website.
  4. Each participating person may submit a maximum of one saying per competition. The sayings must have been created by the participating person themselves.
  5. The slogans may have a maximum of 50 characters and may only be written in English or German. The slogans may not violate any personal rights and/or property rights of third parties; they may not violate applicable law, in particular they may not constitute a criminal offense and/or be offensive, pornographic, glorify violence, be extremist, racist, discriminatory or otherwise reprehensible.
  6. The participating person accepts the special conditions of participation that are published in connection with the specific call for entries (e.g. topic of the competition, closing date for entries, etc.).
  7. Any violation of the general and/or special conditions of participation will result in the participant being excluded from the competition. Exclusion is possible at any time, even after the winners have been determined.

3. Procedure / winner determination

  1. The social counseling of Studierendenwerk will make a pre-selection from all submissions that meet the entry requirements. Ten slogans will be selected. The shortlist will be presented at www.studierendenwerk-aachen.de and in other Studierendenwerk media. The people who have sent in one of the ten best sayings will be informed by e-mail.
  2. The subsequent public online voting will determine the first three winners from the shortlist. In the event of a tie, the next place is eliminated. This means, for example, that two first places and one third place can be determined.
  3. The winning sayings and a selection of the sayings will be published on the Studierendenwerk media.
  4. The winners will be notified via e-mail.

4. Grant of rights

  1. By participating, the participating person grants Studierendenwerk the simple (non-exclusive) right to distribute, reproduce and make publicly accessible the submitted slogans free of charge and without restriction in terms of time and space in connection with the competition in editorial reports and advertising publications relating to the competition. Publication and dissemination shall take place in media belonging to Studierendenwerk such as the website, advertising displays and social media such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
  2. Studierendenwerk is permitted to create postcards, subject to the protection of moral rights. The graphic design is the sole responsibility of Studierendenwerk.
  3. The participating person agrees that their name will be mentioned as the author on the postcard and that only the file name of the illustration with the name of the participating person will appear in the online gallery. If naming is not possible due to the special nature of the publication (online voting), the participating person waives the right to be named as the author.

5. Exemption obligation

The participating person shall indemnify Studierendenwerk against all justified claims of third parties which are asserted against Studierendenwerk on the basis of a claim submitted by the participating person due to the intended use of the claim.

7. Data protection

The participating person agrees to the use and storage of their data solely for the purposes of this competition. The data protection regulations and the conditions of participation are linked in the form on our website.
