Social benefits: Bridging loan and free table for students in need

Bridging loan

In financial emergencies, students at Aachen's four universities can apply for a short-term bridging loan of 500 euros and/or participation in the "free table" program.

For the approval of both benefits, a consultation in the social counseling service is required, in which, among other things, the applicant's need is checked. The documents listed in the application must be brought along. A guarantor is not required.

"Free table" for students in need

The “free table” provides subsidies for meals in the dining halls of Studierendenwerk. Participation entitles you to one free meal per day (classic or vegan/vegetarian) until the end of the respective semester.

If you have already received a social loan or a reimbursement due to social hardship from the AStA, you can replace the necessary proof with a certificate from the AStA.

Please note that you must still submit an application and have an interview with the social counseling service. Approval cannot be granted without an application and interview. You can find the applications below.

Before submitting your application, please contact the social counseling service via e-mail to arrange an appointment so that we can clarify the details together. Please do not use the open consultation hours for this.
